On May 1st, 36 Marian shooters trekked to Doniphan Nebraska for the 45th annual Cornhusker Trapshoot. This year there were more than 2,400 competitors. Friday was the high school singles event. Due to the number of competitors the program was changed to 75 singles targets The weather was almost perfect for a trapshoot with highs in the 70's and very little wind. Singles Results Marian Blue: Maddie Worth, Lori Nevole, Hannah Knight, Katie Petersen and Anna Vasko set a new school record in this event. They were the second place ladies team and third overall. They moved out of the ladies classification and received the third place overall trophy. This is the first time in the 45 year history of the shoot that a ladies team placed in the top three in singles. Lori Nevole tied for first place individual and won her shootoff to take the first place trophy. Katie Petersen tied for third place. Lori Nevole had 50 straight in singles Hannah Knight and Katie Petersen had perfect rounds of 25 straight.
Saturday was another picture perfect spring day. The day consisted of 75 handicap targets with yardage between 18 and 25 yards depending on the first day scores. Handicap Results Squad Blue with Maddie Worth, Lori Nevole, Hannah Knight, Katie Petersen and Anna Vasko placed first in the ladies team handicap competition. They set a new school record for this event also. Anna Vasko tied for third in Ladies Handicap, won her shootoff and took the third place trophy. Madison Webster and Hannah Knight tied for seventh in Ladies Handicap.   Overall Results Squad Blue with Maddie Worth, Lori Nevole, Hannah Knight, Katie Petersen and Anna Vasko had the high overall ladies team but the squad elected to shootoff with Waverly for the second place overall trophy. Blue won the shootoff to take second team overall. This is the first time a girls team has placed in the top three overall. This is the third straight year that Marian Blue has had the top ladies team score. Nebraska State Champions Lori Nevole tied for third overall, won her shootoff for the third place trophy Hannah Knight was 5th overall. Anna Vasko was 6th overall. All five members of Blue placed in the top 15.
