On April 29th, thirty Marian shooters made their way to Doniphan Nebraska for the 42nd
Annual Cornhusker Nationals Trapshoot. There were more than 1,900 competitors in this
meet. Friday was the high school singles event. This event consisted of 100 16 yard targets.
The squad of Alexa Baumer, Haylee Frisbie, Natasha Mason, Brianna Rakes and Kelsey Genoways placed third in the ladies team competition. |

On Saturday the day consisted of 100 handicap targets with yardage between 18 and 25 yards
depending on the first day scores. Squad Blue with Alexa Baumer, Haylee Frisbie, Natasha Mason, Brianna Rakes and Kelsey Genoways placed first in the ladies team handicap competition. The squad received gold medals and the state championship team handicap trophy. Kelsey Genoways finished third in Ladies Handicap after a three way shootoff. She is the first Marian shooter to receive an individual trophy in the state meet. Based on the two day competition squad Blue finished second overall in the ladies team competition. Alexa Baumer was named a Cornhusker Academic All Star Trapshooter and received an academic scholarship sponsored by the NRA. She is the first Marian shooter to receive this award. |
