On May 5th, 20 Marian shooters made the trek to Doniphan for the 37th annual Cornhusker High School National Trapshoot. More than 1,600 competitors were in attendance for the three day shoot with the high school teams competing on Friday and Saturday. Friday was the high school singles event. More than 1,200 high school students competed. This event consisted of 100 sixteen yard targets. At the end of the day the squad of Sarah Morgan, Rachel Miller, Nora Kiteley, Kathleen Doyle and Katie Stockdale finished in first place in the ladies division. They were 22 targets ahead of Lincoln Southwest.

days event.
Day two consisted of 100 handicap targets with yardage between 18-25 yards depending on first day averages. Squad Blue took first place again in this event, winning by two targets over a team from Ord. The squad of Katie Kafka, Katie Lonergan, Katelyn Lohaus, Channing Smith and Christina Mason finished fifth for the day. Having won both days events the squad of Sarah Morgan, Rachel Miller, Nora Kiteley, Kathleen Doyle and Katie Stockdale also took first overall. They are the Nebraska State Champions for 2006. |
