The sunrise over the Harry Koch trap field was a beautiful mixture of oranges and reds. The weather was perfect as more than 300 shooters from the North Division of the Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference met in the first trap shoot of the season.
The Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference (ECTC) was divided into three divisions for the 2005 season. Each division has about 300 shooters. Each division has a six meet schedule. The format of the meet is for each shooter to first shoot 2 round (50 targets) at 16 yards. Handicap yardage is determined by how well they shot their 16's with a minimum handicap distance of 18 yards. A 40 at the 16 yard line means you shoot your handicap from the 20 yard line, a 46 means you shoot at the 23 (your 16 average rounded up).
Awards are given to individuals for 16's, handicap and overall. Team awards (squad all from the same school) are given in all three events also.
Fifteen Marian students participated in the meet with seven of the shooters starting their second season.
