"I'm really excited and I think we have a lot of potential.  It will be neat to develop a new rhythm [with the new team]," said junior Katie Powers, varsity soccer player.

Tennis brief

Freshman Kara Root isn't intimidated about the upcoming tennis season.  Since she was 5, Root has been perfecting her talent through clinics and private lessons.  During the off-season, she practices six times a week for an hour and a half each day.

Root has high expectations for the upcoming season. "I hope we get at least second in state because Westside is pretty good this year or maybe even take State," she said.  In anticipation for the tennis season, Root said she is just, "ready for it to start."

The first meet was held on Sat. March 20, at Burke High School, at which Marian placed fourth out of 12 teams.
