New recruits prepare to enter Marian
Another
school year is almost over and the freshmen, sophomores and juniors are registering
for classes to take next fall. Another
group is preparing to enter Marian, too: the incoming freshmen. All of the current eighth graders planning
to come to Marian met in the cafeteria on March 1 between 3:30 and 7 p.m. to
sign up for the classes they will take their freshman year.
“It
went very smooth,” said Recruitment Director and organizer of the event, Mrs.
Michelle Delisi. “Our process is very organized. I would say most people were
in and out in 15 minutes.”
Delisi
was able to arrange and supervise the event with the help of faculty and
staff. Mrs. Mary Baker, math department
chair, was there to explain math curriculum to the new students and their
parents.
“They
look like typical incoming ninth graders- excited, enthused and a little nervous,”
said Baker.
Student
members of Recruitment Team were also there to help out, while the rest of the
school enjoyed the 12:40 p.m. dismissal.
“I
think that it went very well,” said junior Mandy Tessmer, who helped sell
t-shirts and greet the girls and their parents. “A lot of the girls were
meeting other girls and they seemed really excited to be here and meet
everyone. They seem like a fun bunch of girls.”
The
evening was a success and 176 girls have registered so far. “The class itself,
and their parents, seem very enthused and happy to be here,” said Delisi.
