On the night of Nov. 19, parents, faculty and old and new members crowded into the Servants of Mary Chapel to celebrate the induction of National Honor Society’s latest members.

The induction ceremony featured speaker Dr. Amy Haddad and a reception followed the event.

A total of 73 new members were inducted into NHS, including 16 seniors and 57 juniors.

National Honor Society advisor, Mrs. Kathy DaBoer, said that the amount of members “fluctuates on how involved the students are” which determines the amount of inductees.

Each member must possess leadership, character, service, and scholarship.  In order to even qualify for NHS, students must be a junior or senior and a have minimum 3.5 GPA.

Newly inducted member, junior Crystal Reyelts said, “I feel honored that I can be a part of NHS because there are certain requirements.  It’s not like anyone can join.  I’m glad I fulfill them.”

National Honor Society president, senior Maggie Rezac, was excited about the number of newly inducted members.  “It’s really cool.  It says a lot of the junior class.”
