4 c. flour 1 1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder 2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. shortening red food coloring
1/2 c. butter slivered almonds
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Cream together shortening, butter, and sugar
3. Add eggs, sour cream, and vanilla
4. In another bowl, mix dry ingredients and add to
butter mixture
5. Chill for at least one hour
6. Shape dough to look like a finger
7. Line on greased cookie sheet
8. Make “fingernails” using slivered almonds colored red
with food coloring and place them on edge of “finger” cookie
9. Bake at 350 for 5-7 minutes
Tip: For more realistic cookies, use toothpicks
to make indentions at knuckles.
