-Sister Margaret Stratman,
OSM
What does she teach?
-She teaches two blocks of
sophomore religion classes, in addition to running the Campus Ministry program
with Mr. Kory Delkamiller.
From where does she come?
-Before teaching at Marian,
Sister Margaret taught at a school in Tucson, Arizona.
"The school I taught at in Arizona was twice as large as
Marian. It had about 1400
students. It was co-ed," said
Stratman.
What does she think of Marian?
-"So far, I like Marian a
lot," said Stratman. "It has a
very friendly spirit, and it is easier to get to know the girls, because it is
a smaller school."
Where did she attend high
school and college?
-Sister Margaret is
originally from Omaha, and attended Holy Name High School.
"High school was fun. I was involved in chorus, as well as
sodality, which was a service program."
She was also the president of her freshman class. After high school, Stratman attended
Duchesne College. Duchesne later
closed its college, but left open the high school. Stratman finished up her
education at Creighton University
How did she decide to enter
the convent?
-Stratman decided she wanted
to become a nun while she was in high school.
"I knew many of the sisters
at Holy Name because I had them for teachers. I liked their friendliness, and that they were so caring,"
said Stratman.
What does she like to do in
her spare time?
-In her free time, Sister
Margaret has many hobbies.
"I enjoy reading, and I love
to travel when I can get a chance.
I also like swimming, walking, and yoga. And I love going to movies," said Stratman.
What are her expectations
for this school year?
-"I look forward to getting
to know the students and faculty, as well as the Marian experience."
