Small Faith Sharing Groups
An
integrated approach to faith development
Bonnie Bost
Not everyone is comfortable
sharing their confusion about their faith with a class full of peers.
"All of us, on some level,
are curious about God and philosophical questions like where we come from and
what happens to us after we die.
There often is not time in religion classes to discuss all of these
topics," said Mr. Greg Golka, religion teacher.
The solution to the problem?
Small faith-sharing groups, formerly called CLC. The administrators of the
program are Mr. Kory Delkamiller and Sr. Margaret Stratman, and the group
leaders are Mr. Greg Golka and Ms. Pat Travis.
"The purpose of the meetings
are to get people together in a comfortable environment and talk about matters
of faith that they are interested in, and also to learn. It is a chance to talk," said Golka.
The small faith-sharing groups meet once a month here at Marian.
Juniors Nicole Lohaus and
Brianna Rochford are both involved with Small Faith Groups.
Lohaus got the idea to join
when Ms. Tocco told her Morality class about the program. "It sounded like fun, so I thought I
would give it a try. I really like
the size of my group, which makes it easier for me to open up," said Lohaus.
Rochford also finds the
program beneficial. "I like how we
are able to talk about both big and small issues, things that are affecting us
and also the world around us," said Rochford.
Anyone who is interested in
joining the program is welcome to join.
